Young Adolescent Music Therapy Group: Music and Harmony

Institute for Therapy through the Arts (Creative Arts Therapy) ita

In music therapy, students will experience increased confidence through interactive music making experiences tailored to their individual strengths. This may include individual skill development by engaging in song listening, to lyric analysis, to song re-creation, to improvisation or song creation. For example, in song re-creation, the students work on cooperative social skills, identifying their own strengths and how this may contribute to the group process while re-creating one of their favorite songs with live instruments. Instruments and materials are adapted for student success throughout each process.
