Traditional Camp Session 2A

McGaw YMCA Camp Echo

Campers in rising grades 3-8 attend Traditional Camp to make new friends, explore the outdoors, and participate in a variety of camp activities, also known as camptivities. They spend their time at camp living, learning, and playing with their cabin group, which consists of two staff members and up to 10 campers. Traditional campers eat meals with their cabin group and enjoy two cabin-choice activity periods each day. They engage in progressive skill-building challenges and grow confidence and independence through our camptivities, spending three one-hour blocks each day in the same program areas to expand their skills in their area of interest. All traditional campers have daily independent choice time, where they can either advance their skills in a specific activity or explore new areas. This time can include waterfront activities, land sports and other creative choice activities. Evenings are spent bonding with cabinmates, playing all-camp games, and enjoying either a cookout (undernight) or an overnight camping experience at a remote site on Camp Echos 500-acre property. From morning reflections to bedtime Taps talks, campers grow in spirit, mind, and body, learning YMCA core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility all while having FUN! Campers in this program stay in cabins at Main Camp, with options for male-identifying, female-identifying, and all-gender cabins, depending on demand and cabin capacity for each session. eLEAP Camper Cost: $350
