Trailblazers II - Upper Peninsula Backpacking Session 4
PLEASE READ: An eLEAP pledge to Camp Echo does not guarantee a spot in camp. If you have not secured a spot in the Camp Echo Early Registration Lottery, please attempt to secure a spot in the Jan 6th Open Enrollment, which is first come first serve. If a program is full and you pledge eLEAP money to it, you will be placed on the waitlist.
Trailblazers II builds on the progressive challenge model of Camp Echo’s Adventure Trip Program, offering rising 8th and 9th graders a chance to explore the wilderness on a deeper level. Like Trailblazers I, campers will spend the first week at Camp Echo participating in Traditional Camp activities, or “camptivities,” including two of the three camptivity hours, while growing foundational wilderness and trip skills in preparation for the upcoming adventure trip.
In the second week, the group heads to Michigan’s Upper Peninsula to backpack a portion of the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore along Lake Superior. They will spend five (5) nights camping in the backcountry, gaining confidence and wilderness skills while deepening their connection with self, community, and the outdoors.
